Googly Eyes

The Idea

Googly Eyes is a take on the ghost eyes of old comedy movies. Idea being a portrait painting's eyes follow you where ever you move. I imagined this to work well in a retail space like shop front window or similar location.

I used an Arduino Uno with electromagnets to control the eye position. The Googly Eye itself is a normal googly eye with a washer attached to the black iris so the electromagnet can do it's thing.

Tracking

For tracking I used what I have and re-used some webcam tracking code I've built for other projects. Written in OpenFrameworks it makes use of OpenCV's thresholding for depth calculation to isolate a body. This isn't perfect as it requires the environment to adhere to certain conditions however it was sufficient for my prototype. You can view a video here of the tracking.

V2

I already have some ideas of how to improve on this version. More specifically the tracking and making it less reliant on a full fledged installation tracking set-up.
